well here is a third idea on eating snow from frequent contributor RX
Once when I was a kid something happened to our pipes (frozen, maybe?)
and we couldn't get water from the faucets for a day. We were okay
until the time came to wash the dishes, so we went outside and filled
up a big pot with snow, then took it inside and melted it on the stove.
The whole house started to stink with this sickening chemical smell
and the pot got a grey ring around the inside. I never ate snow again.
