I found this link on the BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/collective/A30267641
It is a video of Mark E Smith famed leader of The Fall a seminal punk band of old, reading an HP Lovecraft short story. i tyried all day to get it to stream so i sent a plea to one of my oldest and dearest friends, who I will call Rx, if she would listen to this and give me a review. she said yes and i will turn it over to her.

It’s kinda like an old man in the library, by the fireside in a leather smoking jacket reading, unrehearsed, from a very old book. The sound could be better (a bit flangy and garbled) and he could have practiced a bit more because it’s hard to understand at times. When you click on the link they ask you if you want subtitles. I didn’t get them and I wish I had. He clears his throat a lot. It’s a bit strange to me to hear his voice without it’s usual rhythmic bounce, just reading straight prose without much inflection. I keep expecting a raven to come flying in and perch above the doorway. Well, I listened to the whole thing and I still don’t know what happened. It’s a good idea poorly executed, but you gotta give him credit for trying. At least he can read.

May it lie still.
I keep thinking about Mark E. reading H.P. Really, the scariest thing about it was his face. I know that none of us is getting any younger, but his kisser is a horrible reminder of that fact. I watched it again and the sound is just too bad, even with the volume turned all the way up I just couldn’t hear half of it. What a tease.
